Removing the Magnifying Glass

As Spring makes its entrance, spark for change ignites and I’m ready to reinvent my entire existence. As I declutter my home, making space for new belongings and obsessively scrolling through Pinterest, I have an epiphany; the design and style of my home is a direct reflection of my wardrobe. Foundational colors, accent colors, shapes, materials, textures, styles.
If you are someone who is constantly trying to define what your style is, this reflection may be helpful when selecting objects for your home and wardrobe. Remove the magnifying glass - what does the broader perspective look like? What similarities do you see? What seems out of place? What are your go-to's?
Take note of:
- Warm or cool tones
- The use of color
- Rough or smooth surfaces
- Soft or rigid textures
- Lines, shapes, movement
- Types of materials
- Vintage or contemporary
- Primarily one style or a mix
- Time eras
- Silhouettes
As the seasons continue to change, us humans learn to adapt. You could say we do the same with the revolving door of trends. Don’t be scared to switch it up and take some chances. Your home and wardrobe should always feel like a fun art project; a reflection of who you are.
xx
